Oaks Prague is a large mixed-use development and golf resort southeast of Prague, Czech Republic. Our role in this project was to design a winery and equestrian center. I worked on this project as a lead architect.

The critical factor in designing the equestrian center was the placement of individual buildings in the terrain and in relation to their functions with a focus on the short walking distance between them. The project consists of a club with a reception and changing rooms, a house for staff with an office and manager’s apartment, stables for 54 horses, an indoor arena, an outdoor arena, a horse walker, and paddocks. All crucial horse services are placed along one path.

In order to preserve the rural character, we designed the project as a group of directly or indirectly connected buildings with simple gable roofs where each building houses its particular functions and with a modern take on details, and material usage with a clear distinction between human-centered and horse-centered functions.
