Like a water drop flowing down a leaf, Gallery Kapka sits in perfect harmony on the slope of park Parukarka in Prague district 3 – Zizkov. With its location, the building forms a landmark of the park and creates in it a possibility for cultural activities in addition to sporting and relaxation.

The design evolved from the concept of duality of terms that characterize the park: static and dynamic, sport and relaxed and activity and peace, and so on. Since the terms defining the park are in contrast, a water element was picked as a main connecting theme that is bridging the contrasting concepts. The water here embodies the duality itself as water gives and takes, can be wild or still, and can save and kill. A water drop running down the leaf became a major inspiration as well as the main connecting element.
The volume is almost literally based on the shape of a water drop flowing down with an addition of the pass that penetrates the volume to create both a visual and pedestrian connection between the upper and lower parts of the park. The building envelope is composed of highly reflective sheets to add a sense of invisibility that contrasts the red sheets used in the passage. This contrast, altogether, crowns the concepts of duality in this project.
